This Metal Polishing and Restoration Kit Contains: Angle Grinder Dish 1x Black – Coarse 1x Red – 80 grit 1x Grey – 240 grit 2x Felt Compound Bar (4″ x 1″ – 100 grams) 1x Cutting Compound – Brown / Black 1x Polishing Compound – Blue / Pink All Angle Grinder Dishes are fitted with an M14 Thread. All components of our kits are available separately across our online store. Compounds: Brown & Blue – Non-Ferrous Metals – Aluminium, Copper, Brass, Lead etc. Black & Pink – Ferrous Metals – Tool Steel, Stainless Steel, Iron etc. How to use the Angle Grinder Metal Polishing and Restoration Kit: For the best results we recommend working through the grades of dish. Start by mounting the Black Angle Grinder Dish onto your angle grinder. This is the coarsest grade and is designed for the cleaning stage – removing any rust, paint and major scratches. Work the dish evenly across the surface – make sure to keep moving and avoid dwelling to prevent any “flats” forming. Next, move onto the Red (80 grit) Dish. This dish is much finer and begins the surface preparation stage – smoothing edges, scratches and machine lines. Mount your dish onto your angel grinder and work evenly across the surface. Now mount the Grey (240 grit) Dish onto your angle grinder. This dish is finer once more and completes the surface preparation stage. Once more, work the dish evenly across the surface until you are satisfied with the smoothness of your workpiece. Finally move onto the Felt Dishes and Compounds for the polishing stage. First, mount a clean Felt Dish onto your angle grinder and load with Cutting Compound. The cutting stage is the final surface preparation before applying a high-gloss finish. Load the dish with compound by spinning against the compound bar – the bar will melt and coat the dish. Now work the loaded dish evenly over the surface. Before moving onto the final stage we recommend cleaning any residual compound or polishing haze with Vienna Lime or Solvent Cleaner (Available in our online store). Now begin the final finish. Mount a clean Felt Dish onto your angle grinder and load with Polishing Compound and work the loaded dish evenly across the surface until a satisfactory mirror-like finish is achieved. Once again we suggest using Vienna Lime or Solvent Cleaner to remove any polishing haze to really bring through that high-gloss polish.
