A Mandel is used to hold abrasive discs of 1, 2 or 3 inch diameter and then abrasive discs of either wet and dry, emery, surface conditioning or felt for polishing. The discs help maintain a flat surface on the metal which is critical for mould tool preparation. These tool are cheap and very easy to use, they are powerful and are excellent for this application.
